Guillermo Montano is the President of TELUS International Central America and CEO of Transactel, Inc., the latter which he co-founded in 1995 and is now the largest BPO provider in Central America. Transactel is leading the contact center industry with its diversity of services and facilities. Through its philosophy and mission, its unique employee benefits program, and its commitment to society, Transactel has developed a new generation of people with strong values and responsibilities.
As CEO of Transactel, Guillermo is responsible for the overall management of 4,200+ employees headquartered in the region. Transactel is not only recognized for its growth over the years but also as The Great Place to Work in Central America and the Caribbean, by the Great Place to Work Institute.
Guillermo, in conjunction with the government and the export association, founded the Cluster for the Contact Center Commission in Guatemala, established to regulate and promote the outsourcing industry. Guillermo has served on the Board of the Export Association for the past 3 years.
In 2007, Guillermo was awarded the Central America Contact Center Outsourcing Frost & Sullivan Award for Competitive Strategy Leadership. This award was in recognition of the outstanding growth experienced by Transactel, as well as the market share it captured in Central America. In 2009, Transactel was recognized as the Exporter of the Year by the Guatemalan Exporters Association and was ranked among the Top 20 Outsourcers in the world by ContactCenterWorld.com. It was also recognized by United Way with the Volunteer Hero Award for the work on the Neurological Guatemalan Institute during the company's annual Day of Service, having the largest number of volunteers in a single event. Guillermo also serves and is an active member on the Board of Directors of United Way.
Prior to founding Transactel, from 1996 to 1998, Guillermo was employed by Shell International Petroleum Company where he was responsible for the development and daily management of the non-fuels business in Guatemala. Before Shell, Guillermo began his career as the Brand Manager in Central America for Procter & Gamble.
Guillermo holds an MBA from Babson College in Massachusetts and a Business degree in Agribusiness and Marketing from California Polytechnic State University. He is also an active member of the Entrepreneurs Organization (EO) and the Young Presidents association (YPO).
