Needing to centralize with a new outsourcing provider, the procurement team of a large communications company turned to TELUS International to reduce labor and inventory costs and improve procurement quality and productivity. The scope covered thousands of transactions annually, including purchasing for more than 20,000 SKUs and inventory management for more than 800 SKUs across 300 stores.

Process Consulting & Implementation

Using a Six Sigma approach, several improvements were put in place including process mapping and documentation to update current process flow charts, failure analysis with control points to reduce critical errors, quality assurance audits to enhance accuracy, and an escalation matrix to establish accountability.

Results

The results were impressive including a 10-15% in labor savings, improved quality scores averaging 97% and improved admin efficiency gains by reducing material code creation in SAP from 24 to 16 hours. Further, inventory costs were reduced with Availability to Promise hitting 98%.
